締切の数々
この季節は、どなたもこなたも締切に追われている印象。修士論文や卒業論文の原稿も続々とやってくる。中には、投稿論文の形になったものもあり、これまた、成果がちゃんと世に出るように、なるべく早く目を通さなければならない。
その他、本日あった事と言えば、某県の希少種保全研究に関する打ち合わせ。新たなプロジェクトの構成も考える。昼下がりの専攻会議では全く想定外であった学科長に選ばれる。数々の雑用、段取りをしないといけない役なのだけれども、まだまだ先の事と思っていたので、立ち振る舞いを観察していなかったよ。新入生のオリエンテーションや歓迎会等々、どんな感じで進行していたっけなあ〜、と思っていたら、来年度あたり、当たりそうでヤバイと学科長が送信したメールをすべて捨てずに集めていたというN先生よりメール一式を頂く。
片付けなければならない査読もあるけど、これはしばらく堪忍してもらおう。先週末の会議の評価書も書かないといけないけれども、これもしばらく待っていてもらおう。等々、いろいろな不義理の原因となっていた原稿を夕方に仕上げ、英文校閲に出した。ああ、さっぱりした。
次は、この週末に行われる九大のGCOEシンポジウムの発表準備だ。シンポジウムの内容は以下の通り。参加者が魅力的で、楽しみだ。
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
Toward Developing Global Genetic Diversity Assessments
This symposium is held in connection with a workshop on February 7, 2010. Before discussing about concepts and implementation plans of the global genetic diversity assessment on the next day, the symposium will provide participants of the workshop an opportunity for exchanging knowledge and ideas resulted from recent advance in population genetics, conservation genetics, phylogenetics, and evolutionary genomics.
Although scientists of such wide areas are invited, participants are biased to plant scientists. This is partly because genetic diversity assessments in forest plants are urgently needed under the rapid loss of forest vegetation, particularly in tropics.
Fish scientists are also invited because the rapid loss of fish diversity and fish biomass is threatening the sustainability of services supplied from freshwater and marine ecosystems.
The symposium and workshop are sponsored by the Global Center of Excellence Program “Asian Conservation Ecology as a Basis for Symbiotic Society” of Kyushu University and the University of Tokyo under the support of JSPS.
